The article presents the results of a review on echinococcosis in children and a clinical case of pulmonary echinococcosis in 8-year-old girl. In recent years, the number of patients with echinococcosis has increased not only in generally recognized endemic centers, but also among residents of European countries. Due to the increasing number of people immigrating to Central Europe from countries with a high incidence of cystic echinococcosis, this disease became important in the differential diagnosis of cystic lesions. In 2014, the European Register of Cystic Echinococcosis was launched in the context of the HERACLES project. The described clinical case represents an undoubted interet as an example of late diagnosis of cystic echinococcosis, which led to the development of complications and required surgical treatment.Downloads
